Useless Information

Good Morning Friends!

I was thinking about some of the recent useless information that I've learned, I confirmed it myself first, and thought I would share it with you. I think I should preface this post by saying that I can be skeptical about some of the "trivia" that I hear, especially if Bill, my husband, agrees with me. Within the last couple of weeks we have heard 2 big "stories" that we were skeptical about.

The first story involves one of my good friends telling us that armadillos carry leprosy. This conversation began due to several dead armadillos being visible on road sides here in NorthEast Georgia. Now when I think of leprosy I think of a third world county or the play "The Untouchables." Wasn't Patrick Swayze in a movie about Leprosy? City of Joy, maybe? Anyways, this just sounded a little far fetched to me, so what did we do, we googled it .... and what did we find?

49, 300 hits....there is something to this armadillos and leprosy thing!

and after going to the Straight Dope it appears that armadillos do carry leprosy. Did you hear that? ARMADILLOS DO CARRY LEPROSY!

I stand corrected E, my friend, you were right and the moral of this story is?????? Don't let your kids touch an armadillo!

Useless trivia #2 involves a small lizard-like creature called a skink. My MIL's cat apparently has an affinity for these little creatures and has killed 2 within the week. Anyways, she had been told that they were endangered and that it was against the law to kill them. I'm getting a visual of Tippy in handcuffs. Well, that seemed a little unbelievable to me, the endangered part that is. I wasn't too concerned about Tippy behind bars......after all, they would have to catch him first.

Anywho, upon further investigation it appears that Skinks are only endanged in New Zealand, not in Georgia. GOT IT..... SKINKS ARE NOT ENDANGERED IN GEORGIA! I knew it.

OK, now what should we do with all this useless information....... file it away, you may get on Cash Cab one day!
